Hi there! I’m Tiffany Tran.

Last year, I released by first children’s book: Lily Lou and The Great Apple Shortage. In a nutshell, the book is about being there for a friend in need.

Lily Lou’s best friend Jill recently lost her grandpa.

In effort to be there for her besty, Lily Lou comes up with a plan to bake Jill an apple pie. There’s just one problem. She can’t find any apples.

Will Lily Lou ever find the apples she needs?

Will she be able to cheer up Jill?

You’ll have to read the book to find out. 😜

You can find the book on Amazon in paperback and hardcover.

More info:

Growing up, I wish I saw more characters in books that looked like me. Unless it was an Asian-specific book (e.g. celebrating Lunar New Years, learning Asian foods, etc.), I remember Asian characters being non-existent in children’s books. A study in 2019 by Cooperative Children’s Book Center (CCBC) compiled statistics on diversity in U.S. books since 1985 and found that there is still a lack of diversity in children’s books. Of the books reviewed: 1% had Indigenous characters, 5% LatinX characters, 7% Asian Pacific Islander/Asian Pacific American characters, and 10% African/African American characters.

While I’m sad to see the representation for minorities *still* low in children’s books, I am really proud to say this book will be a small count towards that gap.

This book is best suited for children, who at minimum, have been exposed to the topic of loss (e.g. death, someone passing away). It’s also well-suited for adults who want to encourage children to be more empathetic towards someone that’s grieving. Bonus if they enjoy food too (spoiler: there are 3 unique recipes at the end that are kid-friendly and tasty!).

It’s definitely possible but I need your help!

If it’s for a local library, you can have them reference the Library of Congress Control Number: 2021916845 – this number will help libraries look up the book easier through the catalog that’s nationally use by all libraries.

If it’s for a bookstore, please share the title of the book, my name, and mention they can order it through  LightningSource. A catalog any bookstore can order directly from!

What's next?

To everyone that’s been following since the beginning, thank you for believing in me and sticking around. To everyone that’s new, welcome! I hope the creations I put out, brings you (or someone else) much joy.
